Good-bye Adium

Maybe this isn't 'goood-bye', but is it see ya later. I've got a new fave IM clent that is better tailored to my social networking needs.

Digsby = IM + Email + Social Networks

<quote>
Instant Messaging
digsby is a multiprotocol IM client that lets you chat with all your friends on AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, and Jabber with one simple to manage buddy list.

Email Notifications

digsby is an email notification tool that alerts you of new email and lets you perform actions such as 'Delete' or 'Report Spam' with just one click.

Social Networking
digsby is a social networking tool that alerts you of events like new messages and gives you a live Newsfeed of what your friends are up to.
</quote>

And don't worry Lotus Sametime. You'll always have a spot on the Dock.

Way to go Lotus Connections

Mike Gotta, posted a good summary of the SharePoint vs. Connections battle going down at the Enterprise 2.0 Conference this week. It's an exciting event and I wish I could have been there for it! The stakes are high as customers of all sizes start to look at social software offerings from IBM, Microsoft and others.

These CIO.com articles provide a good background of what the two biggest in the software industry are providing:
Understanding Lotus Connections, IBM's Version of Web 2.0 For The Enterprise
Understanding Microsoft SharePoint in a Web 2.0 World

Lawrence Liu's (Microsoft's SharePoint Senior Technical Product Manager), Tweet on how the face-off went is a good concession and shows that we are headed in the right direction.
